Using the Level Editor, you can create and edit your own custom levels. GeoAze comes with 4 built in difficulty levels: Easy, Middle, Hard, and Expert. However using the Level Editor , you have the freedom to create a completely new level that gets loaded automatically each time the game starts, and is made available in the game just as the built in levels are.
Note: The upper of the two listviews shows all existing levels; the lower one the details of the level currently selected in the upper one. Select an existing level from the upper list (or create a new one), and edit its features in the lower one.
To create a Custom Level , you can either start from an existing one,
by selecting it from the upper list, or create a new one from scratch, by
clicking on the
New button. Whichever way you choose,
edit the level by checking/unchecking boxes in the lower lists correspondingly,
and thereby including/excluding the corresponding items from the level.
When you're happy with the
contents of the level, save it using the
Save button,
or
Save As button. Note that
its not possible
to change the build in levels, so only the latter is possible if you started from
a built in level (as opposed to a previously created custom one).
As with most dialogs in GeoAze, you can click on the ? in the top right corner of this dialog and then on a particular element for detailed help on this particular element.
Example .....Creating a custom level for a particular class
You can use the Level Editor to create a level you find is especially suited to
teaching say 4th class students. Suppose you think that the built in Middle level is
close to what you want for 4th class, but there are a few towns that you think are
too difficult and a few counties from the Hard level you'd like include. Select the Middle level in the upper listview since its our starting point. Now click the
Save As button and enter
"4th Class" when GeoAze prompts you for a name. (You can call the level what you please, as long as there isn't already a level with that same name). You now effectively have created a copy of the "Middle" level called "4th Class", which you can modify as you please. (Note: You can't modify the "Middle" level directly since its a built in level and as such must remain available. Built in levels are marked are distinguished from your own custom levels by the different symbols in the upper listview).
Now in the lower listview locate the towns you think are too difficult and uncheck them. This removes them from your new "4th Class" level. Locate the counties you think you'd like to add and check them. Now they are included in your new "4th Class" level. Finally click the
Save button to save these changes to your new "4th Class" level.
That it! Click the
Ok button at the bottom of the dialog to tell GeoAze you're happy with what you've done, and you'll see that you can select your level game just as if it had been a built in level in the New Game Dialog or even when printing worksheets.
